This extracts the audio and discards the video entirely. The soundtrack inside a WMV file is typically WMA, and it is re-encoded to ALAC on the way out.
Expect a much smaller file. Video accounts for most of the bytes, so about 45 MB per minute becomes roughly 6 MB per minute of ALAC.
Choosing lossless ALAC means nothing further is lost, though it cannot exceed the WMA track stored in the source video.
Extracting ALAC audio from a WMV video pulls the soundtrack out of the ASF container and writes it as a standalone MPEG-4 (.m4a) file. The video stream, which holds most of the data, is discarded.
Developed by Microsoft in 1999, WMV stores audio using WMV9, VC-1. That codec choice sets the upper bound on what any conversion can preserve.
ALAC, from Apple and dating to 2004, uses ALAC and plays natively on 2 of the six platform categories we track. That combination is usually why people convert into it.
